Our Policy Work

MIWSAC has long been a leader in both developing and advocating for legislation and policies that protect and expand the safety and sovereignty of Native people. We are excited to grow our Policy team to focus on work within Minnesota as it impacts our coalition membership; while expanding our National work to advocate alongside other tribal sexual assault coalitions, governments, and organizations that prioritize funding, supporting, and expanding the work to end sexual violence against our relatives.
Our priority is to support coalition membership and all Native people in making our voices heard through legislative advocacy and policy work.

Many opportunities arise each year to give testimony at government-to-government consultations, attend national task force meetings, attend NCAI gatherings, and other important gatherings. Please reach out to Ingrid Anderson, National Policy Director, for support in developing testimony or training/technical assistance to further develop your own policy/legislative advocacy work.

Our Policy team requests your help to inform our policy priorities! We plan to announce our policy priorities at our Membership Meeting in May 2024.
